5 Quick SEO Tips for 2013

2013 seo tipsDo you have nightmares about Pandas and Penguins? Does your spouse think you need therapy for your constant SEO rants? You’re not alone.
Google is constantly upgrading and tweaking its algorithms, and no, it’s not for sadistic pleasure.
Their main goal is serving online searchers the best possible results. Depending on your age, you may recall a time when finding exact answers on the net wasn’t easy. SEO companies of yesteryear “gamed the system” by various black hat strategies including keyword stuffing, invisible text and doorway pages.
Today, these actions may result in your website becoming banned in search engine results. It’s important to work with an SEO company that keeps up with algorithm changes and updates.
All of this being said, we’re here to share 5 quick SEO tips that will help your online presence in 2013:
1. Brush up on your writing skills and create some useful, compelling content that is easy to share online. “Easy to Share” means each blog post should have social sharing buttons so readers can share your article on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, LinkedIn, etc. Continue to follow blogging best practices guidelines.
2. Grow your social networks on Google+, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. Don’t forget, people search social networks for information as well – Facebook Graph Search is one example. It’s imperative that you post fresh content often and all contact and business information is correct.
3. Like investing, it’s important to not focus all of your SEO efforts in one place. Don’t spend 24 hours a day researching keywords or optimizing your website.
4. Your website and blog needs to answer the questions your target audience are asking online. This act alone will increase awareness and credibility which will ultimately lead to more leads. Think about this for a second. What terms do you enter into Google when searching for a product or service. What sorts of results come up? Do a quick search for your services – are you happy with the results? Are your competitors answering your questions? Each time a customer calls you with a question, or you solve a customer’s problem, you should write a blog post about it.
5. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. It’s time to become the CNN of everything related to your industry. Curate the latest news, write whitepapers, create slideshares of everything related to your services. Become to the “go-to-person” for everything related to your business. Your main goal should be educating your customers rather than promoting to them. Become a trustworthy source of factual information and Google will thank you for it.
