A lot of recent conversations with my old peers, has made me realize
more and more that we have always been taught to approach a “GET MORE PEOPLE NOW” feel. This is something that we must now move away from, as such an approach cannot sustain in the long run.
Why is that? Well, simply put, quality is key. Generating incredible traffic for one month, then seeing a critical drop in the second does NOT help your cause in sustaining a powerful web presence. You must always try to target respondents and participants that are willing to continue to return to your website or contact you about a product/service.
Do not force your website on the market if its quality is nothing more than perfect. Always remember that experimentation is ALSO important; if your numbers are low in the beginning, you will ALWAYS increase them drastically when you hit that right rhythm. So always feel empowered to try out new site designs, new content, and new navigation points, and NEVER get lazy – ALWAYS update your information, even it means setting a “What’s New” feature on your homepage that is updated daily.
